Hi, I'm Oreo!
My full name is Double Stuff Oreo. I am an AKC registered Boston Terrier. I was born June 10, 2001. I am called a Party Colored Boston..... I have spots!! Mommy loves my spots because they are all in the shape of hearts. I was a gift to my mommy for Sept. 11th. See, mommy had to travel to NYC after the buildings fell. She had to build 400 computers to help Wall Street get back up and running. While she was gone, Grandma and Grandpa brought me home for her as a surprise! And boy was she surprised!!
The Diagnosis
On Aug 7th 2006, I was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Lymphosarcoma (lymphoma) is the third most common cancer diagnosed in dogs. It is a cancer of lymphocytes (a type of blood cell) and lymphoid tissues. Lymphoid tissue is normally present in many places in the body including lymph nodes, spleen, liver, gastrointestinal tract and bone marrow. Mommy noticed that there were lumps around my neck and on top of my shoulders. At first I was diagnosed with a needle asparate, but to be absoluetly sure, the Dr removed one lump from my back leg and sent it in for testing. The options at this point were: 1. do nothing. I'd live for 3-6 weeks. 2. Prednozine treatment. I'd get 3-6 months. or 3. Chemotherapy. I might get 1-2 more years.
The Rollercoaster Ride
Chemotherapy is it!! We started on Aug 30th on the Wisconsin Protocol. I am currently being seen at Rochester Veterinary Specialists by Dr. Dana Brooks. So far I'm doing great! I'm in remission!! I bring my ball with me everytime I visit! I've gained weight and haven't had any sickness at all.
Holistic and Western Medicine
Currently while on chemotherapy, I am also see Dr. Linda Schneider at Macedon Veternary Clinic for Acupuncture. Mommy changed my diet to Innova EVO. It's low carb and high protein (carbohydrates feed cancer donncha know!). I'm also on other supplements recommended by Dr Schneider. The Holistic side of medicine helps keep my Immune System in tip top shape so that the Chemotherapy can do it's job and sack that bad cancer!

Oreo crossed the Rainbow Bridge and is in the arms of my Father who just passed Nov 4th, 2006. He fought until the end! We had 20 months together, longer then anyone thought. Thanks for reading this site and I hope it's a help to anyone else out there going thru this terrible time.
